Admission Process
MAYHS operates on a rolling admission basis. Candidates should file their application early in the year in order to be given full consideration for the upcoming academic year. Admissions are determined without regard to the need for financial aid. Candidates who have completed the admission process will be notified by the Admission Office as early as mid-February. Please note that a candidate's file for admission cannot be reviewed until all the necessary documents have been submitted.
Open Houses & Parlor Meetings
MAYHS has scheduled an Open House for the Girls’ Division on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 and an Open House for the Boys’ Division on Monday, November 16, 2009. Additionally, several Parlor Meetings have been planned in local communities. These evenings are an easy way to learn more about MAYHS. We strongly encourage prospective students and their parents to attend one.
Application Form & Fee
The application and other required forms should be completed and returned as soon as possible to the Admission Office, along with a non-refundable application fee of $150 ($50 discount prior to 1/15/10).
Recommendations & Transcript
Two recommendations (Current Principal & Character Reference) are required for each applicant. In addition, we require that an official transcript be sent to MAYHS directly from the applicant’s current school. Recommendation & Transcript request forms are enclosed with the application packet.
Interview
An interview is a required part of the application process. Once the office has received all documents, our staff will call to schedule an appointment for an interview.
Campus Visit
Candidates may schedule a half-day at MAYHS. The prospective student will be hosted by a current student at their current grade level. Visits may take place before or after a complete application has been submitted. MAYHS has scheduled several official Visiting Days. If you need alternative arrangements, please contact the school at (732) 613-7460, ext. 16.
Testing
The Bureau of Jewish Education (BJE) High School Entrance Examination is strongly encouraged, but not required for admission to MAYHS. This year the test is offered on Sunday, November 22, 2009. For more information regarding this exam, visit www.bjeny.org.
Enrollment Procedure
Once a student has been offered admission to MAYHS, parents will be sent a formal acceptance letter, along with complete enrollment materials including contract, registration materials, transportation reservation request forms, and tuition information.
Please contact MAYHS at (732) 613-7460, ext. 16, if you should have any questions regarding the admission process.
